Washington, DC – JTR Strategies (jtrstrategies.com), a boutique Washington, DC-based lobbying and public affairs consultancy founded in 2017 by former Obama administration and Capitol Hill veteran Jenny Rosenberg, announced that Suzi Emmerling has joined the firm as a Senior Advisor. In this role, Suzi will expand JTR Strategies’ footprint to the west coast where she will be supporting Rosenberg in client services at the federal and state levels.
Suzi brings a wealth of experience to JTR Strategies from her years in the federal government as an appointee of President Obama, in the City of Los Angeles as an high ranking advisor to Mayor Eric Garcetti, and as an alum of the Center for American Progress (CAP). Rosenberg and Emmerling worked closely together during the Obama administration while serving in senior executive roles at the U.S. Department of Transportation. “I am so proud to have Suzi join JTR Strategies and bring our clients the razor-sharp strategic advisory skills that define her unique and impressive background,” said JTR Strategies founder Jenny Rosenberg. “Suzi was a trusted colleague of mine and so many others when we served together at the U.S. DOT and there’s a reason why the most high-ranking leaders in government – at all levels and across the country – have sought her out to manage their public profiles and portfolios. Furthermore, Suzi understands the often-complex relationship between Washington and California and will be a problem solver for all of our clients.” As the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Emmerling served on the executive leadership team and advised former Secretary Anthony Foxx on all transportation issues and crises before the department. During her time at DOT, she worked closely with her counterparts in the White House on all major transportation and infrastructure-related rollouts and initiatives and maintained close oversight of every mode of transportation to ensure that President Obama and Secretary Foxx’s priorities were implemented. Highlights include working with Rosenberg on reinstating commercial flights to Cuba and the FAA’s Drone Program, as well as Federal Automated Vehicle Policy, the 2015 Philadelphia Amtrak derailment, the Ladders of Opportunity initiative, movement of crude oil by rail, and the national Smart Cities Competition. Prior to joining JTR Strategies, Emmerling worked for the City of Los Angeles as the Director of Communications for Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti. She also served on the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee, the 2012 Obama for America campaign, and the Democratic National Convention Host Committee in Charlotte, NC.
